Since the COVID-19 pandemic, disinfectants have been widely used for hands and surfaces. Resistance to antibiotics is a well-known phenomenon. Less well-known however is how micro-organisms develop resistance due to the use of biocides. In some cases, resistance to a biocide can even lead to resistance to an antibiotic or another biocide, a phenomenon known as cross-resistance. Alternate disinfection and thorough cleaning

Fortunately, there is a wide range of solutions to biocidal resistance.

One solution is what we call ‘thoughtful disinfection’. Not all surfaces need to be disinfected all the time. There are ways to consciously alternate disinfection and cleaning actions so that the risk of developing any kind of resistance is minimized as much as possible.

Another solution is to work with probiotics and to cover your surfaces proactively with beneficial bacteria, which protect your indoor environment for a least up to 14 days against any other micro-organism that wants to take a hold of that surface.
